Social Wall Of Fame – PeepWall.com

An interesting new website has popped up online this week called PeepWall.com “The Social Wall Of Fame”. The website allows individuals to purchase 1 or more of 625 total blocks on the homepage where you can upload an image and link it to your social profile site (Like Twitter), blog, or website. Each spot is only $10.00 and will become a permanent fixture on the website and archived in internet history. The website itself has no other purpose other than featuring those that are listed on the home page.

The site gives “advertisers” an affordable opportunity to gain some internet fame by being 1 of only 625 people allowed on the website. The site has the feel of the famous MillionDollarHomePage that was created and launched in 2005 by Alex Tew a student that wanted to earn money to pay his way through school. The MillionDollarHomePage received worldwide attention and actually sold $1,000,000.00 worth of ad space over a short period of time.

The MillionDollarHomePage was geared toward businesses to promote their company. PeepWall is geared toward individuals to promote themselves and their social presence. Businesses can still buy a block but must upload an image of an individual if possible.

PeepWall.com does not stand to make 1 Million Dollars, but hopes that the project will offer a little fun and PR for social media addicts and a small profit at the same time. The sites revenue is limited to $6,250.00 which is a far cry from 1 million. The creators of PeepWall, 2 Roanoke VA based web promoters and entrepreneurs say that all they want to take home from this project is the fun and sense of accomplishment.

A portion of the money earned will be donated to a local charity to be announced later. They are thinking of donating some of the funds to a local homeless shelter or support agency for the homeless. “We see our fair share of homeless and less fortunate people since our office is downtown” says Nick one of the creators. He wanted to make it clear that only a portion of the revenue will go a charity and the rest will be saved to cover costs associated with building, hosting, maintaining, and promoting the website. Advertising on the site is not tax deductible and the site is not a non-profit agency.

Purchasing a “block” on the website is easy. Simply click on the space (block) you wish to purchase and follow the payment process. After your image and link attached are approved your “Block” will go live for the world to see!

For more information on PeepWall.com visit them online.

Note: The above social media sites are useful for different
reasons. To highlight the primary benefits of these sites they
are categorized as follows:

  • Direct Link Sources – Allows users to
include an external link on a post or profile page that does
    not contain a nofollow tag.
  • Strong Profile Rankings – Sites often
rank well in search engine results, which is great for
    reputation management and branding.
  • Promote Link-Worthy Content – Great to
use for the promotion of interesting or relevant content.

RipOffReport.com Website Is Having Troubles

The extremely popular and mostly loathed rip off report website has been having some type of technical issues over the past week or so. The website RipOffReport.com is an online complaint site that allows ANYONE to file online complaints against businesses and as of lately a lot of individuals. The website has been under fire over the past few years because of their “business” model. The major beef most people and businesses have with rip off report is they allow people to post ANYTHING on the site without verification of identity, and legitimacy.

There has been a little web chatter about the website being down for the past 10 days. The website is not actually down for everyone, but is running extremely slow. One can only speculate what the issue is. It could be an attempt by an enemy of rip off reports to put a hurting on their ad revenue and complaint flow, or it could be that rip off report is under going some sort of maintenance.

Rip off report has been featured on all sorts of blogs, news stations, newspapers, and websites because of the controversy that surrounds the website and its owner Ed Magedson. The website even has an entire industry that partially revolves around it called “Online Reputation Management”. One company called Reputation Armor offers to “remove rip off reports” although the website claims to never remove rip off reports even if the original author requests it. Reputation Armor took a moment to explain that removing a rip off report refers to removing the rip off report links from the top of search results, not actually from the internet completely.

Some people are saying they hope the website goes down for good, and others say they like the power and visibility that ripoffreport.com gives them. Apparently the owner of rip off report is smarter than some think he is. He continues to operate one of the most hated and popular websites on the internet, even when all odds are stacked against him.

What do you think about RipOffReport.com? Is it a fair system?

When looking for ways to develop your business or even to keep it pertinent, there comes a instant when you realize that everyone is talking about social media.  Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, these have all gone from being simple names of websites to actual verbs that have become a part of the ordinary lingo.  Today, a hefty percentage of major businesses, organizations, and companies make use of social media as a way to advertise, create brand recognition, and update consumers.  When wondering if this may be right for your business, the truth is that it is hard to imagine a situation where it wouldn’t be.

Today’s culture is based largely around the notion of instant gratification.  If I want information, I expect to get it now, and if I want to learn about a company or business, I want the most relevant information possible rather than a website that has been the same for six months or more.   Customers no longer want to glance at your standard advertisement; they want to know what your business is up to right now, what your present offers are, and how you can meet their instant needs.  Social media is both the cause of and the solution to these needs.

When interacting through social media, you are creating a distinctive form of advertisement.  Every time you gain a follower and make a post or comment on their page, it is seen by all of their friends.  When these friends in turn add you to see your most recent postings, they are seen by each individual’s network of friends again, and the process branches out until a few posts are reaching thousands of people at once.  The use of a slogan or simple phrase on a network like Twitter that gains attention offers you the chance for your company name to quickly go viral, and the character limits ensure readers that they will never be subjected to drawn out advertisements.

For a few years now, it has been suggested that social media would be the marketing tool of the future.  While the trend is surely apt to continue to mature and expand, it is safe to say that this predicted future has already arrived.  Social media is the marketing wave of the present and has become a staple of success for thousands of companies.

If your company has yet to create a strong presence on these type of social media networks, the time is now.

Recently Google announced the unleashing of Google’s “Real-time search” in the search engine results. Matt Cutts covered it in his blog. This is a new feature that will facilitate Google to provide up-to-the-minute updates (“freshness” and “relevance”) on any search inquiry/subject a user researches.

According to Amit Singhal of Google (responsible for Google search algorithms), “Light can travel around the world in 1/10th of a second, and we won’t rest until the speed of light is the only barrier to getting good search results to you.”

How to use the Google Real-Time Search Feature:

Matt Cutts said in his blog that Google processes billions of documents per day for their real time search. Google has really enhanced considerably in speeding up the crawling and indexing procedure, which is exceptional even with the already-enormous and mounting size of the web.

Step 1: Go to www.google.com

Step 2: Type your query and press “search.”

Step 3: When the results load completely, find “Show options” under the search box. Click it.

Step 4: Under “Any time,” click “Latest.” This will let Google give the latest results (real-time search results).

It is very extraordinary that Google is still able to grant updates as early as “1 minute ago.” This is very fast, and is really “real-time.” You can even observe that Google regularly adds updates even when the browser is not refreshed as indicated: “New results will appear below as they become available.”

One feature I noticed that was neat was the Twitter updates included in the Real-Time Search Results as seen below:

To stop receiving frequent updates, you can click “pause.”

Reputation Management Firms

I came across a new website that lists almost all Reputation Management Firms and allows users to post a review about the companies listed. The website features about 50 or so Reputation Management Companies and the list is surely to grow as the industry grows. It appears the site was just created over the holidays, most likely by a reputation management company. Either Way it is a good idea to have a review site for this industry, there is a lack of reviews online about Reputation Management Companies.

If you are in the reputation management industry or want to review a reputation management company, check out the site here: http://www.iReputationReviews.com

Yahoo! Inc might be pulling the plug on the “blogger” social networking service MyBlogLog.

ReadWriteWeb reports MyBlogLog will be closed down by Yahoo! in January 2010 (Next Month)
MyBlogLog is a social-network service for the bloggers that enables them to connect with other blog writers and readers visiting their sites. The website lists the profiles information of the writers as well as the blogs for the same.

MyBlogLog was a wildly innovative service that grew fast after launching in 2005. It was originally developed by Cloudspace, a Florida-based web applications development organization and was acquired in January 2007 by Yahoo! for around $10 million. There were over 45,000 blogs subscribed at the time.

Chris Yeh, Head of Yahoo! Developer Network (YDN) says, “Frankly, it’s no secret within Yahoo! that we’re actively discussing the future of MyBlogLog. However, it’s also true that we have not made any final decisions at this point. Is a shutdown on the table? Sure, that’s an option. But there are other options as well. We know this creates some uncertainty for current MyBlogLog users. While we aren’t quite ready to share more details, we promise to keep you posted.”

Yahoo! has shut it’s a variety of products in the past year, with the objective to cut-costs and be more focused on its “core” services. If MyBlogLog shuts down, I see a lot of MyBlogLog users being very upset. There are a lot of paid users and avid users of MyBlogLog.

Our blog (SEOFRIENDLY.COM) is on MyBlogLog and we get a fair amount of traffic from our listing with them. In my opinion, Yahoo! Inc. should stick with this project or at least transfer ownership to another company that could keep the site alive.

Why Do You Like Twitter?

This post is basically a question to all twitter users. Why do you like Twitter? Why do you use Twitter?

A lot of people do not like twitter and refuse to use the site. It seems that some people think that Twitter and Micro-Blogging is a squander of time and serves no business purpose.

So if you have a moment and want to share your thoughts please post a comment and let everyone know:

  • A. Why do you like Twitter?
  • B. Why do you use Twitter?

Tips On Making Money With Twitter

There are a lot of people online that sign-up for twitter in order to utilize twitter’s money making and marketing capability. I have personally made money because of my twitter account and not so much directly from my account. Some people post spammy affiliate links over and over and simply end up losing followers. Without a strong following of readers you are simply what I call a Sp-itter which is someone who just ads stuff to twitter and no one reads what you are posting, so what you are saying is worthless. If you have followers (a lot of them) then you will make money from and because of twitter.

How to Get More Twitter Followers:

Follow more people in your niche
Post at least 10 useful posts for every promotional tweet
Add Twitter to your blogs, forum accounts, and websites to get more followers
Use twitter Chains like FastFollowers.com to get followers faster (not the best way but works)
Promote your twitter account like you would your own website

How to make money with Twitter:

Join Ad.ly (www.ad.ly) If you have a lot of followers you get paid to tweet stuff (ads).
Post your blog updates to draw in more blog readers thus more money
Post affiliate links to programs you like and are successful with
Sell Sponsored Tweets (Charge A Fee To Post Announcements/Ads)
Create A Twitter Related Website or Service (Directory, ReTweet, Ad.ly)

There are a lot of ways to make money with Twitter. I do not think you will get super rich from using twitter but it can help you increase your revenue. It may be a building process but making “money” with Twitter is easy if you have the time and resources.
